Is there any children’s book character as curious as that little monkey George. I don’t think so. The other day I was leaving for a work trip and spent some time with Eva reading Curious George: Visits a Toy Store. Our friends Amy and Ryan and their son watch the TV show about curious George. We’re trying to keep Eva from TV as long as possible so reading to her is what she has right now. She did sit still for most of the book too.

I just recently started reading Curious George to my daughter. My parents gave us a CG anthology that includes seven books. I remember really liking the series when I was a kid, but reading it as an adult is a different experience. One of the things I’ve noticed is that the humans like to put George to work and are surprised when he screws up. Hello! He’s a monkey!
The best message of the books is that George would not have gotten into trouble if he had listened and done as he was told. I always emphasize these points when I’m reading them to my daughter. Maybe some day she’ll get it.

Heather,
Thanks so much for the insight and the comment. Eva will certainly be learning more about George in the years to come. I’ll have to look into that anthology.
